Tony Hinchcliffe Biography
Born on June 8, 1984, Tony Hinchcliffe is an American writer and comedian who is famously known for being part of the writing staff of the Comedy Central Roast series. His style of comedy is described as one that is dark and edgy.
A Youngstown, Ohio native he grew up in the city’s north side. For his education Tony attended Ursuline High School, graduating in 2002. As a child, he grew up in a tough neighborhood. He once said that his insult skills also got him punched in the face on the school bus on his first day of school in an interview with cleaveland.com.
He moved to Los Angeles in order to pursue a career in comedy in 2007, His first performances were at open mics at The Comedy Store in Hollywood. later on, he was hired to work the phones and the cover booth, eventually becoming a paid regular at the venue. As his career progressed he became an opening act for comedians Jeff Ross and Joe Rogan. While at the Comedy Store he became popularly known for insulting other comics and audience members during shows. His style of roasting and dark sense of humor appealed to fellow comedian Jeff Ross, also known as the “Roastmaster General” of the television series Comedy Central Roast. During his career, he has written for the Comedy Central Roasts of James Franco, Justin Bieber, and Rob Lowe.
