Don Williams was an American country music singer and songwriter from Texas, USA, nicknamed The Gentle Giant who was born in Floydada, Texas, United States of America, and grew up in Portland, Texas. Floydada as Donald Ray Williams. He is a 2010 inductee to the Country Music Hall of Fame. Willams died on September 8, 2017, at 78 years old.

Williams began his solo career in 1971, singing popular ballads and amassing 17 number one country hits. He was nicknamed: the “Gentle Giant” of country music due to his straightforward yet smooth bass-baritone voice, soft tones, and imposing build.
